TorontoStyle Spotlight... Arm Candy Casa Boutique!

Among the Yonge Street bustle and streams of stores you will find on a quaint little street off Yonge, Elm Street a chic, stylish, hand bag and accessory store called Arm Candy Casa. Are you a woman who is confident, stylish, loves quality leather goods, and doesn’t follow the trends? Well this may be your new handbag and accessory store! Arm Candy Casa opened its doors in May 2008 to the hip, trendy, ever stylish downtown core and what a success it was been!

Owner Adwoa Adu is a self proclaimed accessory and hand bag junky by nature that has turned her passion into a store that not only carries some of the hottest bags that I have ever seen but also promotes free trade, socially conscious and independent designers. As you walk through the boutique you are welcomed by the super sweet and warm owner Adwoa Adu. As you walk on further your eyes dart from right to left and a sense of giddy girly joy takes over you as your eyes gaze over these fabulous, fierce pieces of “Arm Candy.” Aldo take a seat back, Arm Candy Casa is taking over!

Adwoa and I were able to sit and chat about how all this came to reality and how she turned her love of accessories into this fab concept. Adwoa’s makes it a point to promote independent and socially conscious designers. So not only are you getting a hot bag when you purchase at the store but you will also be promoting the little guy and programs from all over the world. Some of these programs support women and the crafts they produce in their villages. Her promotion in fair trade means that when you purchase particular pieces from the boutique you the consumer creates income generated activity for socially conscious groups.

So in turn the proceeds do not just only go to the designers but help to build communities. Also shipment of handbags and accessories come in every two weeks so you will be able to get fresh goodies frequently! How do you ask did Adwoa merge the concepts together? Well it all starts with her background; she has her Masters degree in International Development and has had the opportunity to travel the world as a Small Business Development Trainer. She realized that there was a need and the market for these women in these villages from across the world to sell their products on a larger scale, little did she know when returning to Toronto in Jan 2008 from her travels and completing her degree, the wheels would be turning to create her own destiny and become the owner of Arm Candy Casa.

Believe me you need to see this store for yourself the pictures do not do it justice!*
